Description For Signal Engineer I

Wabtec Corporation's Digital Intelligence Signaling & Systems team is seeking an entry-level Signal Engineer I to join their industry-leading railway solutions division. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for recent graduates to begin their career in railway signaling technology, focusing on safety-critical railroad traffic control systems and railroad-highway grade crossings.

The position combines hands-on engineering work with mentored learning, allowing new engineers to contribute to meaningful projects while developing expertise in railway signaling systems. Working within a collaborative team environment, you'll be involved in circuit design, programming vital logic controllers, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities For Signal Engineer I

  • Assist in the circuit design of wayside and crossing signal systems
  • Support programming of Vital Logic Controllers (VLC) and Wayside Interface Units (WIU)
  • Participate in project scope and design reviews
  • Manage project files and documentation using document control system
  • Ensure version control and accuracy of deliverables
  • Apply industry standards including AREMA and FRA regulations
  • Collaborate with engineers and project leads on project schedule
  • Contribute to quality assurance documentation

Requirements For Signal Engineer I

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, computer or mechanical engineering; or computer science
  • Knowledge of railway industry quality standards, AREMA guidelines, FRA regulations (preferred)
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • e-RAILSAFE and Roadway Worker Protection Certification (can attain on the job)
