Congrats on receiving a team match at Meta!! My information is quite outdated, but I remember the growth rate of Marketplace was tremendous when I was at the company from 2017-2022. Is Shop Ads a related team, or is it a completely separate org?

Regardless, if the growth on ads/marketplace is high, that's a good team to join.

Equally as important as the team is the people you'd work with. Talk to the manager and at least one senior level IC in the org. Ask about past projects, the work culture, and what to expect going forward.

  Thanks for the reply! It turns out the shop ads team is under core ads quality in monetisation. It does seem like it is a high growth area, with precedent for E6 to E7 promotions, so there should be good scope. Would you say this reinforces it being a good team to join?

I worked on ads at Meta. Ads in general is a good place to get promoted at Meta (you literally have the core scope of the business), but it comes with many downsides. I left my thoughts here: "What is it like working on ads teams?"

That being said, I don't think new Meta engineers have much of a choice besides joining ads. Seems like 90%+ of the new headcount is being allocated there.
