Management swaps make it hard to establish meaningful connections. Lots of hidden metrics are looked at for engineers, like commits per day, and they are discussed for each individual and compared. Managers who did not hire me but became my managers were not very involved in 1-on-1s, and this really made it not a fun place to be.
