Process

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks.

Misleading compensation and interview tactics. The interview process had several rounds and was generally well organized. However, there were two things worth knowing before applying.

First, during the interview, I was explicitly asked to choose between an SWE and an SRE role and was told this preference "would not affect the outcome." It did affect the outcome.

Second, the job posting listed a salary range of $116k–$150k. In reality, compensation is fixed at approximately $125k for all new hires, regardless of experience. Their justification is that starting at a lower level gives you "room to grow without needing to change roles."

In practice, this means you start $25k below the top of the posted range, with no flexibility for negotiation. This was framed as a pay equity policy, which sounds noble but, in practice, operates as a salary cap well below what the posting implies. For candidates targeting $150k, this is worth knowing before investing time in multiple rounds of interviews.

The recruiters were communicative and transparent when pressed, which I appreciated. But the compensation structure and interview framing felt misleading upfront.
