Pros: Clio's becoming a pretty popular name in the Vancouver tech space. Doing a short stint here can boost your resume and open up your network.

Cons: Straight up lower pay than most tech companies. Clio likes to say things like they’re not competing with Amazon and the likes for employees. That's just not true; developers are developers everywhere. When I was planning on leaving Clio, I got 5 offers before making a final decision. All of them were higher than Clio, some for lower positions. The ones that baffled me the most were smaller companies also based in Vancouver, paying more for lower positions than Clio. But you don’t have to take my word for it; check any public surveys out there on compensation. You’ll find Clio falls pretty low for a company of its size.

Pros: Work with smart and friendly developers on cool projects.

Cons: Everything revolves around stroking the CEO's ego. You'll waste a lot of energy looking over your shoulder in case the thought police come for you. Leadership talks a good game about everyone being open and sharing their opinions, but the reality is, it's like a cult and you have to conform to the CEO's genius ideas. Salaries are way below market. Just check any public salary survey. But leadership will keep telling you the opposite. You have to believe them because it's like you're in a cult. You'll end up questioning your own self worth. Work at Clio for a couple of years, get some experience and then move on to a better paying job in a sane environment. Or just skip Clio and get the experience somewhere else while earning better cash. Before taking a job at Clio, read Disrupted, by Daniel Lyons, to know what you're getting into.

Cons: The pension scheme is a bit meh, with a 3% match in Ireland.
