Process

Standard interview process.

First, I received a HackerRank challenge, then a 1-hour phone interview, and finally an onsite interview.

The questions asked were pretty standard "Cracking the Coding Interview" questions, but I would say they leaned towards medium to hard difficulty.

Key areas to focus on:

  • Be very comfortable with concurrency.
  • Understand details of memory management (e.g., know the memory footprint of a boolean, long, or char and how to select data types to compress memory).

The interviewers were not particularly helpful; I believe they expected candidates to ask 'the right questions.'

Focus on being a clear communicator. I didn't get through all the questions, but I really focused on clearly explaining my approach and the points where I got stuck at all times.
