Process

The interview was made up of three rounds.

The first round was a casual meeting with someone from Team Leadership. During this meeting, I received an introduction to the company in general and their team specifically. After discussing my own experience, we talked about possible roles that would fit my profile.

The second round was a technical interview with a Director of Software Development. After a short introduction from both parties, I answered about five technical questions, all based on my resume. It felt more like a thorough chat than a typical interview. This round concluded with direct feedback, giving me a sense of "how I did," and further discussion of potential roles.

The third round involved two representatives from a potential team. This included another round of introductions and more technical questions, tailored to the role I would take on if I joined. Lastly, I was presented with a code example and asked to fix a bug. Following this, there was another feedback session. To close, we went for coffee where I met more team members. They made me feel like part of the team, and I knew right then and there that I wanted to join.

The technical questions were thorough but fair. If I couldn't provide an answer due to a lack of experience with a specific technology, they provided the expected answer. This not only gave me understanding but also allowed me to demonstrate my grasp of the underlying concepts using analogies. Their rigorous process, even while needing to expand, shows they don't compromise on their standards, which made me appreciate the offer even more. While I might not have ended up with the exact job I originally applied for, I believe I found the team I was looking for.
