Pros: - Helpful and intelligent coworkers - Good compensation - Epic's code does help save lives

Cons: Unlike its code, Epic's COVID policies end lives. Yes, Epic is requiring that all 10,000 of its employees return to campus over the next 2 months, even as cases are spiking in Dane County. Bad PTO and parental leave. PTO is 2 weeks for the first 2 years, then 3 weeks. You can buy more, but that is still quite limited. Parental leave is at 60% pay, is limited to 2 children who must be spaced at least 3 years apart, and must be repaid if you leave the company within a year. Repression of employees, especially during COVID: questions or concerns about COVID are banned from internal discussion forums. There is no transparency over the decision to return to campus, and employees are scared to speak up for fear of retribution.

Pros: Some great benefits: * Cheap healthcare * Great location * You're making a difference * Beautiful campus * Delicious and cheap food * Solid pay (especially for the area) You get constant feedback from your boss on how to improve/what you're doing well, and people are very helpful.

Cons: I got moved around a lot with some great managers, but I still would have liked some stability. Some roles can be super rough with work/life balance and require a ton of travel. Depending on your manager, you can be expected to work pretty late. Slow development process. Many teams are still using VERY outdated languages, so skills may not transfer to later jobs. There is a lot to learn when you join: a long training period where you learn medical terms, code base, language, and healthcare regulations.

Pros: People generally are very nice and helpful. Lots of people do care a lot about the work they do.

Cons: Management is very heavily dug into their mindsets and ways.
