GM has great benefits overall. They also pay their employees well. My position was hybrid, so I worked from home twice a week.
GM had a lot of major layoffs during my time there. You would always feel like you would be the next person to be let go.
From my personal experience, there were too many migrations and too few testers on the team to fully develop my skills as a software test engineer.
I did the HireVue interview and HireVue coding challenge. Then, two 30-minute interviews with engineers at GM about a month after the HireVue. An offer came two weeks later. The interviews were not super technical.
The interview was very scripted and not particularly tailored to me as an individual. It felt like things each person was given to read and record answers to, to be taken back and discussed elsewhere.
First, a phone screen, and then a video interview. The third step is to interview with tech people for around 1.5 hours. They send the scheduling and reminders via email or text messaging.
