Staying Compatible, Slow Approvals
Engineer • Current Employee
Budapest, Hungary
January 11, 2016
Pros: Transformation will to stay compatible.
Cons: Complicated administration, complicated processes, and multilevel approvals instead of real cost savings.
3.0
Pleasant working conditions, managers, and fellow employees
Engineer • Former Employee
Yorktown Heights, New York, United States
September 28, 2014
Pros: Pleasant working conditions, managers, and fellow employees.
Cons: Continuous downsizing. No longer the old IBM where layoffs were virtually nonexistent. Regular employees might not have a job when the project is finished; they are only given a limited time to find an internal job.
IBM uses "supplemental temp employees" with lower pay as replacement for contract employees. Regular employees, like secretaries, could be transferred to an outside contractor and no longer be IBM employees at any time. They could be put in an IBM secretarial pool with multiple bosses and jobs.
