Process

In October 2017, I attended an IBM networking event. There, I spoke with multiple hiring managers and eventually submitted my resume.

It wasn't until January 2018 that I heard back from IBM, having almost forgotten I'd applied. I was then required to complete a four-hour standalone coding challenge with three questions of increasing difficulty.

I performed well on the first question, struggled but completed the second, and completely failed the third. I also had to answer some questions live on my webcam, including how I would have approached the third question, even though I never finished it. I admitted I hadn't completed it but explained my intended solution.

In February 2018, I received another email stating I had advanced to a "Guru" interview. This was essentially a one-on-one with another IBM employee who asked questions about my resume and presented a few questions significantly simpler than the coding challenge.

After this interview, I received my offer.

Questions

FizzBuzz, with a twist. Instead of printing 'Fizz' and 'Buzz', it used 'THINK' and 'IBM'. The twist was that you needed to append 'THINK' whenever you were on a number containing the digit '2'. Since you had to perform 100 repetitions, you did have to think a little bit.
