Advice to Management

IBM is putting hundreds of high-skill architects and technical people through a so-called "global performance improvement program" to make them either Leads or consultants, especially at a time when their cloud solution, SoftLayer, is a failure. They force people to learn new skills without a single consideration of whether it is a fit for each person.

It is also blatant age discrimination to get rid of older technical people. I do agree that some people's skill sets are no longer needed, but this one-size-fits-all strategy will fail flatly. In addition, the implementation leaves a lot of room for improvement and is ineffective. For example, they should have created smaller groups of people, gotten them together, and trained them instead of blasting zillions of emails that serve absolutely nothing.

If you are an IBM shareholder, get rid of the current management because they are really lost. Sell your shares because IBM is dying.
