Process

I spent three weeks on their take-home assignment, and they graded it like I was in college. I received an A-, with the minus attributed to using print statements instead of logging. I updated my project on GitHub to use logging before the interview.

Once I was accepted for the interview, I arrived early one morning and sat with two SREs. They asked me to deploy my application, which was not set up for deployment and this was not mentioned in the take-home assignment description. I struggled as I had to make code changes on the fly to make it deployable using Docker. I didn't have enough time, and they asked me to explain how to deploy it, which I did, and they accepted my explanation.

One more round followed with two SREs for lunch. They asked me some questions to get a feel for me. Lunch was at a fast-food falafel shop down the street.

I then spoke with two DBAs and explained some of the work I did at my previous company regarding data. They had me update a Python scraping script, which was very easy. Next was the lead developer, who asked about my background and requested I explain an application I had worked on at my current company. This seemed to go well.

Finally, I spoke with the head of communications. She informed me that I wouldn't be able to speak with the CTO, as he had a redeye flight and wouldn't be able to make it. We shook hands, and I left.

For the next few weeks, I asked for an update once a week, as I was interviewing with other companies. I emailed four different people and called the recruiter. To my astonishment, no one responded until three weeks later with a denial.
