I interviewed with Facebook for the Data Engineer position in their Singapore office. The whole process took 4 weeks, mainly spent waiting for the result. It took me 2.5 weeks just to receive the "thanks, but no thanks" email.
The technical bar for this position felt very low, with easy questions, especially on SQL. However, they are looking for someone who can also work with the BI team, so there are some requirements on the non-technical side, such as product sense. Be prepared to be interviewed by "manager" types who assess candidates based not just on technical skills but also on their manner and personality.
I was quite surprised when one of them asked me why I have 8 years of experience but have already worked for 7 companies. It was really offensive, and I couldn't believe a company like Facebook asked me that question!
In general, it was a bad experience for me, especially the waiting part!
Basic programming and super easy SQL questions
