The hiring process, from the initial phone interview to the final response, took 2.5 months. Different recruiters were assigned to the phone and onsite stages. The onsite recruiter was not responsive at all. There was complete silence for three weeks, during which they did not respond to my emails. Then, I was informed that a follow-up design interview was needed. They did not seem to have experienced personnel for the design interviews. I was not impressed by them at all. Some interviewers did not talk or interact much and did not properly answer clarifying questions about the design. It seemed like they wanted to sit back and enjoy the candidate going in a different direction than they expected. It almost felt like they had made up their minds from the beginning and did not want to bother steering the candidate in the right direction. The design interviews are very subjective and did not seem like a fair assessment to me. They need to provide more interview training and improve communication skills for their interviewers. Additionally, candidates should be able to rate interviewers on their experience. The interviewers are not interviewing for their own teams, so they do not have a strong incentive to approve or reject the right candidates, which leads to biased results. They should also respond more quickly after interviews so candidates do not receive false hope due to the long wait. Finally, recruiters should understand that a rejection email early Monday morning is not better than one on Friday afternoon or evening. Let the candidate receive the bad news sooner rather than later.
