Software Engineer New Grad Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

November 1, 2018
Positive ExperienceNo Offer

Process

I first applied through a reference and received an email from the recruiter to schedule a technical interview over the phone.

I was given sufficient time for preparation and a couple of reference videos, which are available on Facebook's career page.

The interview lasted for 45 minutes. I was asked only one question.

The interviewer introduced themselves and then jumped directly to the problem.

They gave me 5-10 minutes at the end to ask questions.

It was a good experience as it was my first interview ever, and with Facebook at that. I lacked practice.

Questions

Given an integer, represent it in its string/word format.

Example: Input: 800 Output: Eight Hundred

Since it's an integer, and I chose Java, the default range was a few billion, inclusive of negative integers as well.

Input: -800 Output: Negative Eight Hundred
