Meta Work Experiences
- 5.0Great Company to Work AtSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeSeattle, Washington, United StatesJanuary 9, 2023Pros: Continues to pay top-of-the-range compensation in the tech industry (despite stock drop and budget cuts). Bottom-up culture which empowers engineers to drive more conversations and choose what they want to work on. Bootcamp process (team selection) is excellent (mainly when there is headcount, less so today during a hiring freeze).Cons: In general, because of the move-fast culture, there can be more external pressure than at other companies. Budget cuts and a stock drop have reduced compensation.
- 5.0Excellent Project, Challenging BalanceSoftware Engineer • Current EmployeeSeattle, Washington, United StatesSeptember 3, 2021Pros: Good company, good project.Cons: Work-life balance could be challenging.
- 5.0Bottoms-up culture makes for easy operationSoftware Engineer • Former EmployeeSeattle, Washington, United StatesSeptember 16, 2023Pros: Once you figure out the culture, it’s very easy to get things done at Meta. While middle management is very fear-driven and incremental in their explicit direction, they will never punish you for making them look good in a way they didn’t mandate. Figure out what the business actually needs, go do it, and get rewarded.Cons: Product engineers can’t plan anything, especially multi-half work. It’s a sad sight.
