Software Engineer Interview Experience - Redmond, Washington

October 1, 2008
Positive ExperienceNo Offer

Process

I applied through the on-campus job fair. Microsoft contacted me online, asking for an on-site interview.

The interview itself took about 30 minutes. The questions were more geared towards assessing problem-solving skills and analytical approach rather than technical skills. The interviewer was a project manager.

At the end of the interview, it took three weeks to be notified that there would be no offer. The interviewer was nice and polite, and he knew his stuff.

Questions

How many unique paths are there from the B-L point to the T-R point of a chess table?

What would be your approach to calculate this?
