In all honesty, ever since Microsoft acquired Nuance Communications, the company that I originally worked for, I got the weird feeling that our positions weren't permanent.
Once they acquired the DAX software and incorporated their AI/copilot software, it was only a matter of time before our roles were eliminated. The layoff was abrupt and unexpected, as they often are, but they have provided "resources" to help us in our career transition. As a whole, Microsoft couldn't have cared less about us.
