Okay place for a "job," not a career. Review process needs huge clean-up
Staff Software Engineer • Current Employee
San Diego, California, United States

Pros: It provides a job allowing people to stay in wonderful San Diego and helps grow your technical abilities.
Cons: Does not provide any real career growth opportunities.
Total lack of diverse culture.
Review process is very unfair and filled with politics.
Hard to get promoted unless you have connections and/or smooched up to directors from the review board.

Great place to work for entry-level engineers, but a lot of "gluts" in middle management
Senior Staff Engineer/Manager • Current Employee
San Diego, California, United States
February 1, 2010
Pros: Some divisions are better than others. QCT is a good place to work because it generates consistent cash for the company.
QIS, MediaFLO, and other divisions are not as good because their respective businesses are not doing well.
Excellent healthcare plan.
Good vacation package.
For the most part, you can expect a stable work environment and be surrounded by generally high-quality people.
Consistent pay raises.
Cons: Bonuses are erratic. Stock options are not worth much nowadays. So unless the company gives RSUs, the compensation package is not very attractive.
The attrition rate is very low, so there is a glut of managers who don't have enough work to do. This is leading to a politically charged environment.

Enjoyed many different nationalities.
Cons: Lots of work, if that is a problem.
I enjoyed it, however.
