Call with recruiter followed by a video chat programming problem. During the programming, I was allowed to use an IDE, and I simply screen-shared during this. I thought I did well on the problem, but there was no follow-up.

You need to be able to do string parsing. Think of it as almost being like a CSV.

Pros: Good engineering group, freedom for work.
Cons: Too many middle managers, too much focus on nonexistent metrics polluting the actual work being done. Small changes developers turn in are shipped via email. I've seen ship mails where they changed a data type from integer to double and found some wins.

Pros: Good product and great people.
Cons: Leadership is too worried about optics and Stripe's reputation and would go to any extent to preserve those. They tried to avoid layoffs with forced PIPs. Slack was monitored and used to put folks in PIP. Once a great company, it went downhill with over-ambitious leadership and missed outlooks. I am not sure how they overestimated the growth since they process payments for millions of customers.

Pros: Good pay, decent benefits for insurance, and an extra stipend.
Cons: Poor management, constant reorgs. Promotion to upper levels is difficult, and you're forced to leave if you don't compete and rise up.
