The interview process was exactly as described and consisted of 5 steps:
For each step, I had to provide my availability. Once scheduled, I received a detailed description of what would happen during that stage. This is something that is overlooked by most companies. I appreciated the transparency and got the feeling they wanted me to succeed.
Every person I've talked to during the interview was welcoming and friendly. They all introduced themselves and explained how we were going to proceed. This was definitely the least stressful interview process I've been part of. I never felt that if I hadn't dealt with situation X, I would immediately be disqualified from the process. During each step, I had the opportunity to ask questions, which is something that doesn't happen often.
The 2.5-hour technical assessment was great, with some specific requirements as well as open-ended specifications. I appreciated the fact that it was a real-world scenario and not some unrelated problem to solve.
The technical assessment review was with 2 other engineers. We talked about the problem and how my solution worked, what could be improved, and what I would change. This was the least stressful part of the entire process.
The interview process was by far the best experience I've had, and you can see a lot of time was put into the process. Throughout the process, I've received feedback and didn't go more than 48 hours without some form of communication, which is great. When I received the technical assignment, at the end it said, "Best of luck with the project. We're cheering for you!" and this entire process felt this way.
