Description For Entry Level Structural / Bridge Engineer

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) is seeking an Entry Level Structural / Bridge Engineer to join their Structural Engineering team, starting in May 2025 after graduation. This role will support various projects including structural and bridge design and analysis, condition state bridge inspection, and plan development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hands-on inspection of structural elements
  • Design and analysis calculations of structural components
  • Plan development including CAD support
  • Coordination with other discipline staff
  • Generating design reports and studies
  • Assisting with project pursuit work
  • Attending project meetings with internal staff and clients

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform tasks under supervision
  • Willingness to learn and expand capabilities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
  • EIT preferred (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Willingness to perform hands-on bridge condition inspection and comfort with heights
  • Proficiency with bridge analysis and design software
  • Excellent understanding of structural design concepts and standards
  • Experience with MS Office products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Ability to become licensed as a P.E. in other US states
  • Experience with local DOTs or municipalities
  • Experience with engineering software packages

  • Hands-on inspection of structural elements

  • Assistance with upfront project pursuit work
  • Attend various projects meetings with internal staff and clients
