Agile Six Applications is seeking multiple Fullstack Engineers to join their mission-driven team working on the Department of Veterans Affairs' integrated patient portal experience on VA.gov. The role involves building and maintaining critical healthcare features for Veterans, working with modern technologies including React, TypeScript, and Ruby on Rails. Engineers will be responsible for developing accessible, performant, and scalable features while ensuring security and data privacy. The position requires expertise in both frontend and backend development, with a focus on creating user-centered solutions that improve Veterans' digital experience.
Key technical responsibilities include implementing features using Ruby on Rails and React, maintaining comprehensive test coverage, integrating with VA APIs, and ensuring application performance and security. Engineers will work in a collaborative environment, participating in pair programming, peer reviews, and knowledge sharing activities.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional engineering experience with both frontend and backend technologies, strong React/TypeScript skills, and experience with cloud infrastructure and CI/CD practices. Experience with healthcare services, FHIR standards, and federal agency work is preferred.

Responsibilities For Fullstack Engineer
- Build accessible, performant, and scalable frontend and backend features using Ruby on Rails
- Develop user-facing features with React (TypeScript/JavaScript)
- Write and maintain 100% automated test coverage
- Integrate with VA APIs and backend services
- Support migration and retirement of legacy systems
- Monitor and triage application performance issues
- Participate in pair programming and peer reviews
- Continuously integrate and deploy code
- Uphold Zero Trust security principles
- Support Engineering Community of Practice
Requirements For Fullstack Engineer
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience with front end and back end technology stack
- 3+ years of recent experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with AI tools and services for software development
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure
- Experience with measurement and monitoring tools
- Familiarity with secure development best practices and Zero Trust principles
