Airbnb, a global hospitality platform that has facilitated over 2 billion guest arrivals worldwide, is seeking a Staff Fullstack Engineer for their Reservation Management team. This role is crucial in maintaining and evolving the core booking experience for both guests and hosts.
The position sits within the Guest & Host organization, specifically focusing on the systems and surfaces responsible for recording all orders at Airbnb. This includes providing a scalable foundation for additional products such as travel insurance and Experiences. The team's primary focus areas are development speed, reliability, scalability, and efficiency, all aimed at perfecting and expanding Airbnb's core services.
As a Staff Engineer, you'll provide hands-on technical leadership to a diverse team of software developers. Your responsibilities will span from designing future-state technical systems to mentoring other engineers and collaborating across multiple internal teams. The role requires a strategic understanding of high-level product goals combined with deep technical knowledge to make informed decisions that balance immediate business needs with long-term technical quality.
The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $204,000 to $255,000 USD, plus potential bonus, equity, and Employee Travel Credits. This is a remote-eligible position within the United States, though it may require occasional office visits or offsite attendance.
The ideal candidate will bring 9+ years of relevant software development experience, with particular expertise in large-scale service-oriented architectures. You should have excellent communication skills, an end-to-end mentality that transcends team boundaries, and a passion for efficiency, availability, system quality, and user experience.

- Design future state technical systems combining strategic product goals with deep system understanding
- Lead engineers in building technical solutions across teams
- Participate in product and UX requirements development
- Nurture technical quality culture from design to production
- Mentor other engineers in technical and collaboration skills
- Identify and propose solutions to technical and product engineering excellence
- Collaborate with internal teams across Search, Checkout, Reservations, Host Settings, Listings, Payments, Tax, Cities, Trust and others

- 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience in a fast-paced tech environment
- Expertise with backend systems in large-scale service-oriented architectures
- Good judgment in making tradeoffs between short-term business needs and long-term technical quality
