Staff Software Engineer, Guest Displays & Platforms

Airbnb, a pioneering force in the global hospitality industry since 2007, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Guest Displays & Platforms team. This role sits at the intersection of crucial guest-facing features, managing pricing and availability across all product surfaces, as well as the main product details page (PDP) that drives the guest booking flow.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading the development and refinement of major subsystems that power the core user journey for Airbnb guests. The role combines strategic technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in both backend systems and frontend development using React. You'll be working with a large-scale service-oriented architecture, making critical decisions that balance immediate business needs with long-term technical quality.

The position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on Airbnb's core platform, working with cross-functional teams including Search, Checkout, Reservations, Payments, and Trust. You'll be responsible for establishing technical vision and delivering solutions that are flexible, highly available, and efficiently scalable. The role comes with competitive compensation ranging from $204,000 to $255,000 USD, plus benefits including equity, bonuses, and Employee Travel Credits.

This is a remote position within the United States, with occasional work at Airbnb offices or offsites as needed. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of relevant software development experience, strong technical expertise, and excellent communication skills. You'll play a crucial role in mentoring other engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence while helping shape the future of how millions of guests interact with Airbnb's platform.
