System Operations Engineer

AltaLink is seeking a System Operations Engineer for an 18-24 month term position. As a member of the Berkshire Hathaway Energy family, AltaLink delivers sustainable electricity to millions of Albertans. The role involves providing engineering support to the AltaLink Control Centre, developing solutions for real-time operational issues, and working with the Outage Scheduling team. Key responsibilities include performing outage studies, risk assessments, and coordinating with the independent system operator. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, be registered or eligible for registration with APEGA, and have experience in power systems analysis or operations. Key Responsibilities:

• Support safe, reliable, and secure power system operation
• Develop solutions for real-time operational issues
• Perform outage studies and risk assessments
• Coordinate outage planning with system operators and facility owners
• Provide technical input for new facility integration

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
• Professional Engineer registration with APEGA (or eligible)
• 4+ years of experience in power systems analysis or operations (asset)
• Proficiency in PSS/E or equivalent software
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Experience with Energy Management Systems (asset)
