Description For Automation Engineer

Amazon's Operations division is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team. This role is crucial in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers. The position involves working with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, and robotics, while providing proactive controls automation and technical support. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in troubleshooting complex control systems, analyzing performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering teams, and other departments
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments

Requirements For Automation Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • Experience with PLC-controlled automation
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • Experience with electrical theory and automated equipment
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
