Description For Automation Engineer, AMZL RME

Amazon's logistics operation is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (EMEA) team in Werder, Germany. This role is crucial for maintaining and optimizing Amazon's automated systems that power their logistics operations.

As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of automated systems, from conveyor belts to sorting systems, to ensure customers receive their orders on time. You'll work with various data sources - from control systems to sensors - using your insights to maximize equipment availability across our facilities. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic thinking to solve complex productivity challenges using Amazon's latest technologies.

Your daily responsibilities will include monitoring critical systems, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions. You'll work within the EU control network to track material transport equipment metrics and create data visualizations for stakeholders. The role involves significant collaboration across departments to maintain proper documentation and system backups. You'll also participate in new equipment installations and support other sites in the EU network as needed.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background with at least four years of automation experience. You should be comfortable with PLC-controlled automation, conveyor systems, and various industrial protocols like EthernetIP and Profibus. Knowledge of Siemens, Allen-Brady, or Codesys PLC systems is essential, as is experience with SCADA platforms and HMI interfaces.

This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technology in one of the world's largest logistics operations. You'll be part of a team that's constantly innovating and improving processes, with the chance to make a significant impact on Amazon's operational efficiency. The role combines technical expertise with leadership opportunities, as you'll be responsible for training and guiding engineering technicians in your team.

Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package and a culture driven by innovation and customer obsession. You'll work in an environment that values diversity, continuous learning, and data-driven decision-making. If you're passionate about automation, problem-solving, and working with advanced technology in a fast-paced environment, this role offers an excellent opportunity to advance your career in industrial automation.
