Description For Automation Engineer

Amazon's Operations division is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team. This role is crucial for maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers. The position involves working with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, and SCADA devices.

As an Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing critical automation systems that keep Amazon's fulfillment centers running efficiently. You'll work with complex control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.

The role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge material handling equipment (MHE) systems and contribute directly to Amazon's renowned delivery speed and accuracy. Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Serve as the site expert for maintaining automation systems critical for operations
  • Collaborate with building Operations, Engineering teams, and other departments
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines to stakeholders

Requirements For Automation Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 2+ years of professional or military experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or equivalent, or 2+ years of PLC programming or automation engineering experience
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis
  • Experience with robotics work cells and its control systems
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs
  • Experience with electrical theory, robotics, controls components, and automated equipment
