Description For Automation Engineer

Amazon's Operations division is seeking an Automation Engineer to join their Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team. This role is crucial in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in Amazon's fulfillment centers through proactive controls automation and technical support. The position involves working with state-of-the-art technology including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA systems.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining critical automation systems, collaborating with various teams including Operations, Engineering, and Safety to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) systems. They will need expertise in troubleshooting complex control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, and DeviceNet.

Responsibilities For Automation Engineer

  • Serve as site expert for maintaining critical automation systems
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering teams, and Safety in MHE systems optimization
  • Maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems
  • Monitor MHE metrics and address system performance issues
  • Provide first-level escalation support for site technicians
  • Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes
  • Perform and analyze building System Assessments
  • Communicate technical issues and project timelines to stakeholders

Requirements For Automation Engineer

Python
Java
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering, engineering technology or 2+ years professional/military experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/electrical engineering/automation engineering or 2+ years PLC programming experience
  • Experience with PLC-controlled automation in continuous process environment
  • Experience with robotics work cells and control systems
  • Experience with Ladder Logic and structure programming
  • Experience with electrical theory, robotics, controls components
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays
