Description For Business Intelligence Engineer, Consumables Operations and Initiatives

Amazon's Consumables Category Productivity team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to drive strategic operational initiatives through data analytics. This role combines technical expertise with business impact, focusing on improving how Amazon executes its Consumables businesses across North America. The position requires strong analytical skills, experience with data visualization and ETL processes, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

The role involves creating reporting tools, building visualization dashboards, and developing data-driven solutions that enhance business operations. You'll work with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and scale, while ensuring solutions have measurable impact across categories. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and Python skills, experience with business intelligence tools, and the ability to influence stakeholders through data-driven recommendations.

This position offers competitive compensation based on geographic location, with a base salary range of $89,600 to $185,000, plus equity and benefits. You'll be part of Amazon's mission to be the most customer-centric company, working with cutting-edge data technologies and making significant impact on how Amazon operates its Consumables business.

The role combines technical depth in data engineering with business acumen, requiring someone who can both build technical solutions and communicate insights effectively to business stakeholders. Responsibilities For Business Intelligence Engineer, Consumables Operations and Initiatives

  • Creating new reporting to inform business reviews and deep dive analyzer tools
  • Improving auditing tools to understand relevant inputs and identify gaps in technology systems
  • Building insights-oriented visualization tools in Quicksight or Tableau
  • Challenging existing process with data-driven insights
  • Partnering across Consumables teams to create an intelligence roadmap
  • Scaling roadmap and solutions across categories
  • Understanding the value chain within Amazon.com site experience
  • Developing a knowledge repository for Consumables data intelligence

Requirements For Business Intelligence Engineer, Consumables Operations and Initiatives

Python
  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience writing complex SQL queries
  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
