Description For Business Intelligence Engineer, Pricing Eligibility Services

Amazon's Pricing team is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer Manager to lead analytics for their worldwide Price Evaluation tools. This role involves partnering with product managers, research scientists, data scientists, data engineers, and developers to build next-generation pricing models. The position focuses on ensuring Amazon's products are competitively and factually priced.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Identifying and driving projects to enhance Amazon's pricing understanding and influence.
  2. Developing regular business reporting to baseline performance and deepen insights across customer segments and product types.
  3. Establishing measurements for experiments to assess impact on price perception.
  4. Influencing the development of new models affecting product display.
  5. Collaborating across teams to develop capacity reporting for project and operational overhead.
  6. Defining data pipelines, self-service tools, and driving insights to improve Price Evaluation tools.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who can work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. They should be a quick learner, analytical in decision-making, and able to drive issues to completion.

This role offers the opportunity to work on complex pricing problems that occur over 2 billion times daily, directly impacting Amazon's competitive edge in the e-commerce market.

Responsibilities For Business Intelligence Engineer, Pricing Eligibility Services

  • Work closely with partner PMs, Data engineers and Data Scientists to identify and address issues and opportunities
  • Facilitate and manage the Pricing Eligibility Services BIE sprint planning and execution process
  • Analyze key metrics to uncover trends and root causes of issues
  • Build metrics to measure key inputs and output metrics that drive Amazon price perception
  • Develop deep dive tools for key metrics

Requirements For Business Intelligence Engineer, Pricing Eligibility Services

Python
  • 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
