Description For Data Center Engineering Operations Facility Manager

AWS is seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Facility Manager to join their Global Infrastructure Operations organization. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and availability of AWS data centers, managing critical infrastructure including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment. The position requires leadership of 24/7 engineering teams while maintaining exceptional uptime standards of 99.9999%.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing facility operations, maintenance, and team management. You'll be responsible for managing critical systems including standby diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, cooling units, and various support equipment. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in AWS's global infrastructure, which powers countless businesses worldwide.

Responsibilities For Data Center Engineering Operations Facility Manager

  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical infrastructure
  • Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians and Facility Managers
  • Ensure staffing levels are maintained and grow with expansions
  • Be actively involved in ongoing construction activities
  • Coordinate daily with third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs
  • Manage operations budget and expenditures
  • Maintain and operate mission-critical equipment including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
  • Ensure 99.9999% uptime for mission-critical servers

Requirements For Data Center Engineering Operations Facility Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline, or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working in data centers or critical infrastructure with emphasis on building and equipment operation
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
