Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an energetic Data Center Facility Manager to oversee operations and management of critical systems in their data centers. This role is part of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, which owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure
- Managing on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors
- Driving safety and security culture and compliance
- Hiring, coaching, and promoting team members
- Managing operations budget and expenditures
- Engaging in improvement projects
- Acting as an escalation point for facilities-related issues
- Responding to out-of-hours emergency calls
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other mission-critical environment
- Knowledge of UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators, and other critical infrastructure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications (Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline)
- 5+ years of experience working in a data center environment
- Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in critical data center operations
