Description For Data Center Project Manager, Critical Projects Implementation (CPI)

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're seeking a Data Center Project Manager to join the Critical Projects Implementation (CPI) team, responsible for managing construction activities within operational data center spaces. This role involves overseeing critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize space, power, and cooling utilization in data centers worldwide.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project management of construction activities related to modifying existing infrastructure
  • Ownership of project scope, timeline, and budget
  • Providing project management for initiatives aimed at increasing data center resiliency
  • Electrical design and review of designs for data center optimization
  • Construction/project package drawing review
  • Creation of project scope, request for proposals, and capital requests
  • Ensuring total project quality, including commissioning plan creation and execution oversight
  • Recording and reporting key metrics
  • Operational support, including procedure review and maintenance initiatives
  • Driving teams in troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis
  • Working with contractors and vendors to deliver efficient, high-quality project turnovers
  • Leadership within the group and with internal/external support teams
  • 30% travel across the EMEA region

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in power distribution and data center mechanical cooling systems, with experience in project management and the ability to work both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams. Requirements For Data Center Project Manager, Critical Projects Implementation (CPI)

  • 3+ years experience managing projects in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
  • 5+ years experience in the technical field of power distribution and data center mechanical cooling systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or similar technical focus
  • Experience managing and negotiating contracts and vendor relationships
  • Ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage trade-offs, and incorporate feedback
  • Proven track record in developing vision, defining strategy, and building programs
  • Successful delivery of results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
