Description For Data Center Regional Mechanical Engineer (Field Engineering)

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Data Center Regional Mechanical Engineer to join their Field Engineering team. This role is crucial in supporting AWS's global infrastructure, specifically focusing on data center operations and maintenance. As a Field Engineer, you'll be the technical expert for your region, providing comprehensive support from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.

The position offers a unique blend of hands-on technical work and strategic planning, where you'll be responsible for reviewing designs, troubleshooting issues, conducting root cause analyses, and developing innovative solutions for AWS data centers. You'll work closely with diverse teams, including operations, design engineering, server hardware, and environmental health and safety teams.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Responsibilities For Data Center Regional Mechanical Engineer (Field Engineering)

  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through maintenance
  • Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers
  • Troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis for site/equipment failures
  • Support operational issues with training and procedure reviews
  • Own conceptual design for existing data center upgrades
  • Interface with internal teams to maintain consistency and reliability
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers
  • Lead engineering audits including on-site visits
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects

Requirements For Data Center Regional Mechanical Engineer (Field Engineering)

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities
  • Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment related to data centers
  • Experience with EPMS/SCADA/BMS Controls systems
