Description For DevOps Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a major advancement in utility computing. This role is part of the AWS Managed Operations team, focusing on building and leading operations for high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock specifically for EU customers. The position involves working with the global AWS teams to launch ESC in 2025, influencing AWS service evolution, and ensuring optimal service performance.

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving critical infrastructure, participating in on-call rotations, and collaborating with technology leaders to enhance service reliability. The role requires strong systems engineering experience and expertise in automation, with a focus on delivering scalable solutions for EU customers.

The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technology while building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team. You'll be part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), which provides foundational services and continuous product innovations that distinguish AWS in the industry.

Your daily responsibilities will include reviewing operational health, identifying anomalies, creating bug reports, providing feedback on change management, and developing automation scripts. You'll also serve as an educator, sharing knowledge about the European Sovereign Cloud with service teams.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to maintaining AWS's position as the world's leading cloud platform while ensuring compliance with European sovereignty requirements.

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025

Requirements For DevOps Engineer, Managed Operations

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems
  • Proficient leading the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs)
  • Proficient driving operational best practices
  • Proficient scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or Ruby
  • Proficient troubleshooting and anticipating problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems
