Description For Electrical Colocation Regional Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As an Electrical Colo Regional Engineer, you will lead projects to fit out data centers to meet evolving customer needs as we expand our fleet to hyper-scale. You'll work with colo vendors to review designs for new Data Centers, act as a resident engineer during construction projects, troubleshoot and conduct Root Cause Analysis for site/equipment failures, provide technical support for existing data center upgrades, and interface with various teams to promote standards for consistency and reliability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing designs for new Data Centers
  • Supporting construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Troubleshooting and creating Corrective Action documentation
  • Supporting operational issues and complex operating procedure reviews
  • Providing technical support for data center upgrades
  • Initiating and leading engineering site audits

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Strong engineering judgment
  • Detail and data orientation
  • Experience managing engineering projects and consultants
  • Ability to build trust with different stakeholders
  • Inclination to conduct field inspections

You'll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, collaborating across AWS to deliver high standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.

This role offers the opportunity to work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions, and to be the 'go-to' engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed.

Responsibilities For Electrical Colocation Regional Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering

  • Review designs for new Data Centers with colo vendors
  • Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects

  • Provide technical support for existing data center upgrades

  • Lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions

Requirements For Electrical Colocation Regional Engineer, Colo Regional Engineering

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers
  • Direct experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget
  • Experience using web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
