Description For Embedded Software Engineer Payload Security, Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an ambitious Amazon initiative focused on launching a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide high-speed broadband internet to underserved communities worldwide. As an Embedded Software Engineer for Payload Security, you'll be instrumental in developing embedded security systems software that enables secure communications between satellites, customer-terminals, and ground-based internet gateways.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Architecting and developing embedded security capabilities for satellites throughout their lifecycle
  • Creating software for cryptographic operations, secure boot, and communications
  • Implementing solutions in RUST, C, C++ within embedded Linux or RTOS environments
  • Collaborating with hardware teams on board design, verification, and integration
  • Following high-reliability embedded software development practices

The role is part of the Satellite Communication Systems Payload team, focusing on critical satellite functions including power management, hardware interfaces, command & telemetry, and autonomous control. You'll participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and testing to operations.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $129,300 to $223,600 per year based on location, plus comprehensive benefits including medical, financial, and other benefits.
