IT Application Engineer, World Wide Grocery Store Tech

Amazon is seeking a talented Application Engineer to join their Checkout Engineering team in Austin, TX. This role sits at the intersection of payment systems and international point-of-sale (POS) software integration, focusing on WFM stores globally. The position offers a unique opportunity to shape the design and development of critical payment and POS systems that power millions of daily transactions.

The role involves leading technical design discussions, implementing crucial payment processing components, and establishing robust testing and monitoring solutions. As part of the team responsible for WFM's global technology infrastructure, you'll work on two critical areas: in-store payment systems across all WFM locations (US, Canada, and UK) and Point of Sale systems for international stores. The position requires strong system design skills, experience with distributed systems, and the ability to drive operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in payment systems or POS, understanding of system architecture patterns, and experience with microservices architecture. You'll work in a collaborative environment, participating in architecture discussions and SAFe ceremonies while contributing to both the technical implementation and strategic direction of these critical systems.
