AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team within the GCNA Organization. This role combines network engineering with Unix systems expertise to deliver sustainable solutions for AWS's global infrastructure. The position involves working with one of the world's largest networks, requiring innovative approaches to complex challenges at unprecedented scale.
The role focuses on developing and implementing next-generation platforms and tooling ecosystems, driving efficiency through automation of builds, configuration deployment, and capacity scaling. You'll be responsible for creating solutions that provide visibility and control of traffic across the network while ensuring automatic mitigation of events to minimize customer impact.
As part of the BERE organization, you'll be responsible for the design, implementation, and operations of networking infrastructure that provides global connectivity between AWS Regions and edge locations. The network grows by 70% annually, supporting massive scale for AWS customers and internal services.
Key responsibilities include creating and implementing network changes, collaborating with automation teams, leading network projects, troubleshooting complex networking issues, and maintaining standards across the networking toolset. You'll work in a 24x7 team on-call rotation and partner with various engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment of new designs and products.
