Description For Network Development Engineer, DC Edge Fabric Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of Amazon's cloud operations, responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This team keeps the cloud running by managing all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The DC Edge Fabric Engineering team specifically focuses on the critical network layers between Amazon DC network fabrics and security zones.

As a Network Development Engineer in the DC Edge Fabric engineering organization, you'll be instrumental in building, deploying, and scaling Amazon's networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global datacenters. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning and innovation.

The position offers unique challenges in network engineering at massive scale. You'll work with cutting-edge technology, from Top of Rack to Network Border systems, while collaborating with various teams to ensure smooth deployment of new designs and products. The role requires both technical expertise in networking protocols and the ability to innovate and improve processes.

Responsibilities For Network Development Engineer, DC Edge Fabric Engineering

  • Create and implement changes on the network
  • Work with automation teams in defining scaling tools
  • Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, and optimization
  • Sustain AWS next generation networks for significant customers
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, and configurations
  • Drive innovation from Top of Rack to Network Border
  • Partner with Network/Infrastructure organization
  • Maintain networking standards and ensure compliance
  • Create and review documentation and processes

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, DC Edge Fabric Engineering

Python
Linux
  • 2+ years experience and knowledge in major internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, ISIS)
  • Excellent IP fundamentals and experience in application and troubleshooting of IP
  • Experience scripting in Python, Perl or Shell
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, and core technologies
  • Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
  • Unix/Linux skills
