AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team within the GCNA Organization. This role is crucial in maintaining and developing AWS's global network infrastructure, which grows by 70% annually. The position combines network engineering with Unix systems expertise to deliver sustainable solutions for next-generation IP networks.
The role involves working with one of the world's largest networks, requiring innovative solutions to complex challenges. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing next-gen platforms and tooling ecosystems, focusing on automation of builds, configuration deployment, and capacity scaling. The position requires collaboration with internal partners and emphasizes creating durable solutions that consider customer needs from cost, performance, and reliability perspectives.
As a Network Development Engineer, you'll be part of the team that keeps AWS's cloud infrastructure running, working alongside software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, and security experts. Responsibilities For Network Development Engineer, Enterprise Network Engineering
- Design, develop network solutions to meet business and customer requirements
- Work closely with automation teams in defining scaling tools
- Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, and optimization
- Sustain Amazon Web Services' next generation networks
- Operate and troubleshoot network routing, inter-connectivity, platforms
- Drive and support innovation from Top of Rack to the Network Border
- Partner with Network/Infrastructure organization
- Maintain standards across the networking toolset
- Create and review documentation and process regarding network implementation
Requirements For Network Development Engineer, Enterprise Network Engineering
- 8+ years experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies
- 8+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms
- 8+ years experience in a technical on-call capacity
- 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
- Experience with router platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto
