AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer II to join their Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team within the Global Connectivity and Network Availability (GCNA) Organization. This role is crucial in maintaining and evolving AWS's global network infrastructure, which is fundamental to connecting data centers and ensuring efficient internet traffic flow worldwide.

The position combines network engineering expertise with systems development, focusing on creating scalable solutions for one of the world's largest networks. You'll work on critical network infrastructure that grows by 70% annually, implementing and maintaining the systems that keep AWS's cloud services running smoothly for customers globally.

As a Network Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for both hands-on network operations and strategic development work. This includes implementing network changes, developing automation tools, leading network projects, and providing critical support during network events.   • Create and implement changes on the network
  • Work closely with automation teams in defining scaling tools
  • Lead network projects in various areas
  • Sustain AWS next generation networks
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing and configurations
  • Drive and support innovation from Top of Rack to Network Border
  • Partner with Network/Infrastructure organization
  • Maintain standards across networking toolset
  • Create and review documentation and processes
  • Participate in 24x7 team on-call rotation

Requirements For Network Development Engineer II - Border Engineering - AWS, Traffic Topology Engineering

  • 4+ years experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols/technologies
  • 4+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms
  • 4+ years experience in a technical on-call capacity
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
