AWS Networking is seeking talented Network Development Engineers (NDE) to join their team in tackling complex networking challenges. This role is part of the AWS Internet Services organization, responsible for designing networks that connect Amazon to the outside world and managing the global backbone interconnecting AWS regions. The position involves defining routing policies, implementing Traffic Engineering solutions, and architecting hardware platforms for internal and external connectivity.

As a Network Development Engineer, you'll be handling terabits of daily traffic and making critical decisions that impact Amazon's global network infrastructure. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on technical work, requiring expertise in routing protocols, network architecture, and traffic engineering using BGP.

AWS Infrastructure Services is the backbone of Amazon's cloud operations, managing all global infrastructure including data centers, servers, storage, and networking equipment. The team ensures continuous availability of AWS services while optimizing for cost efficiency and innovation.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in network protocols, particularly BGP and OSPF, along with experience in global backbone design and architecture. Programming skills in Python or similar languages are valuable, as SDN (Software Defined Networking) is integral to AWS operations.   • Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals and IP protocols
  • Extensive experience in network analysis and robust troubleshooting skills
  • In-depth knowledge of major internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, ISIS)
  • Experience with Internet peering ecosystems and Internet scale traffic engineering
  • Strong Unix skills and ability to script in Python, Perl, shell, C or C++
