Description For Operations Engineer, AWS Managed Services

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an Operations Engineer for their Managed Services team. This role is at the forefront of cloud technologies, assisting a global list of companies in leveraging AWS services for their mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in application management, software development, and systems administration.

Responsibilities For Operations Engineer, AWS Managed Services

  • Troubleshoot application deployments and recreate customer issues
  • Build and maintain CloudFormation templates, Chef cookbooks and shell scripts
  • Collaborate on internal tools and utilities
  • Provide customer support during critical events
  • Write tutorials, how-to videos, and technical articles for the AWS community
  • Work on complex customer problems spanning multiple AWS services
  • Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions
  • Provide feedback to internal AWS teams based on customer experiences

Requirements For Operations Engineer, AWS Managed Services

Linux
Python
Ruby
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, or experience in technical support
  • Experience in network and operating system support
  • Experience with virtualization, orchestration and cloud computing (e.g., Hypervisors, VMware, Xen)
  • Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-netconnection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, and packet capture tools)
  • Strong technical background in application management and software development
  • Proficiency with Chef, Git, SVN, and at least one popular programming language
  • Experience as a Systems Administrator working with Linux, Unix or Windows
