Principal Security Engineer, AWS Security

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Principal Security Engineer to join their Security team in Australia. This key role involves leading security testing and validation across AWS services, focusing on both pre and post-launch security assurance. The position demands expertise in multiple security domains including cyber security, threat assessments, security tools, and framework implementation.

The role combines technical leadership with strategic security oversight, requiring the ability to conduct offensive security testing, develop automated threat solutions, and guide security best practices across the organization. You'll work closely with service teams to embed security throughout the development lifecycle while staying ahead of emerging threats.

As a Principal Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for setting high standards in security testing, developing comprehensive security guidance, and building custom security tools. The position requires excellent judgment in balancing security requirements with business goals, and the ability to influence and mentor other security professionals.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of enterprise security experience, deep technical knowledge, and the ability to obtain Australian Government Security clearance. You'll be working from either Sydney or Melbourne, contributing to AWS's mission of securing cloud services at scale.
