Description For Process Engineer, RMTO Process Engineering

Amazon Robotics (AR) is seeking a Process Engineer for their RMTO Process Engineering team. Located in the greater Boston area, AR is at the forefront of robotics innovation. The role involves designing, developing, installing, and validating manufacturing equipment and tools for robotic systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering tooling requirements from design and process engineers
  • Designing tools and fixtures for safe and efficient assembly
  • Managing fabrication and validation of equipment for NPI programs
  • Owning equipment optimization and cost reduction initiatives
  • Writing technical and operational planning documents
  • Implementing technology and tool improvements
  • Performing critical process reviews including Risk and Hazard assessments
  • Fostering a culture of inclusion
  • Traveling (~10%) for project work

The Process Engineering Team works closely with new product design teams to develop assembly processes, provide design feedback, write work instructions, prepare facility infrastructure, and lead the identification/acquisition/validation of tools, fixtures, and equipment for NPI and other work within AR factories.

This role requires cross-functional collaboration within Operations and across geographies. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to interact with senior management on project status, risks, and change control.

Responsibilities For Process Engineer, RMTO Process Engineering

Requirements For Process Engineer, RMTO Process Engineering

  • 5+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with prototyping and implementation
  • Ability to manage and deliver projects with accelerated schedules
  • Proven skill in written and verbal business communications
  • Experience with Process Optimization Tools including Programming, Mapping, Simulation or various algorithms
  • Experience in New Product Introduction environment including Phase-Gate process
  • Experience using industry Problem Solving Tools such as 8D, Fishbone/Cause-Effect, or CAPA methodology
  • Experience using Quality-Statistical tools such as PFMEA and various statistical techniques
  • Experience reviewing and generating product/fixture designs in Solidworks
  • Experience reviewing and generating plant layouts in AutoCAD
