Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious initiative to revolutionize global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). The Propulsion Lab Engineer role sits within the Kuiper Propulsion Manufacturing team, focusing on developing and optimizing electric propulsion manufacturing infrastructure.
The position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology, specifically developing manufacturing capabilities for various propulsion subsystems including feed systems, thrusters, cathodes, PCBA's, and tanks. You'll be instrumental in transitioning manufacturing capabilities towards higher production rates while maintaining precision and quality.
Key responsibilities include defining standard operating procedures, assisting in test hardware development, training operators, and solving manufacturing challenges. You'll work within an integrated team structure that promotes direct communication and rapid process feedback across mechanical design, systems engineering, manufacturing, and test teams.
The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $89,500 to $189,900 per year, depending on location and experience. Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, financial, and other benefits, plus potential equity and sign-on payments.
This position requires hands-on experience with precision manufacturing equipment and documentation in a high-volume production environment. The ideal candidate will have experience with aerospace hardware, vacuum systems, and clean room requirements. Due to export control laws, candidates must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee/asylum status.
